When it is Spring Break time most student find there way down to beach communities all over this country. Spring Break is a great time to consider taking a Spring Creak Cruise because it gives you so many things to do and you do not have to worry about drinking and driving and getting into trouble.

Learn how to find a: Discount Cruise

When deciding on what type of cruise you want to take first you can decide on the length of your cruise. There are many great weekend cruises to the Bahamas and it you want a longer cruise you can take your whole Spring Break week to enjoy a cruise. You should also decide if you want to not worry and take an all inclusive cruise so that your meals and activities are all paid for. It usually is cheaper to do it this way than pay as you go along the way.

Get some Advice about: Cheap Cruises

Next you need to decide what ports you want to go to because there are many options when choosing a cruise vacation. If you think you would like to spend most of your time on the ship then it will not matter as much but if you are wanting to get off and shop some then you may want to look at some great places like St. Thomas, etc.

Also there are many shore excursions that you can take when on a cruise that will allow you to wind surf, jet ski, etc., so you want to make sure that you look into these options as well.

Remember that taking a Spring Break Cruise can be a great alternative to just another Spring Creak at the beach.

One of the fastest growing of all water sports in the world today appears to be scuba diving.

The corresponding growth in increased and easier to use transportation links now makes the more obscure and hard to get to diving locations now much more within the reach of the average diver.

In this article I really want to take a basic look at Scuba diving but also take a look at one of the world’s leading scuba diving locations in Grand Bahama Island.

The activity of swimming underwater whilst using a scuba set is not unsurprisingly known as Scuba Diving. By carrying and using an independent source of compressed air, Divers are able to stay underwater for much longer than they would normally be able to.Scuba equipment gives divers the ability to stay underwater for periods way in excess of normal usage.

The additional advantage to all of this as far as the diver is concerned is that it frees them up from being hindered and attached to some form of surface powered air system.

It is more common to see scuba divers propelling themselves around underwater by the usage of flippers on their feet. That having been said it is not uncommon for divers who are undertaking large scale explorations’ to actually use a DPV (Diver propulsion vehicle). Commonly known as a scooter divers occasionally use sleds which are attached to surface boats to help them with moving large distances.

The original equipment from which modern day scuba equipment was developed came from the use of oxygen rebreathers developed and sued by US Navy frogmen in World War II.Most people now recognize the term as being made popular by the equipment developed by Jacques Cousteau and Emile Gagnan.

For the technically correct amongst us the term SCUBA is actually an acronym for the phrase “self-contained underwater breathing apparatus” but as with other technical phrases such as the word “laser”, the term scuba has now entered into normal linguistic usage and usually refers to scuba equipment, scuba diving etc.

So to Grand Bahama Island. The reputation of Grand Bahama Island as a diver’s paradise has been growing ever since the earliest episodes of the TV Series “Sea Hunt” were filmed there. The seas around the Island boast elaborate coral gardens, a whole series of speciality dives, deep sites, cave diving and in fact a whole series of different dives.

Grand Bahama Island is of course also famous for its “blue holes” – these are spectacular azure portals in the reefs through which you can descend, surrounded by reef wall on all sides. Depending on which way the current is going at any one time these holes can be “blowing” or “sucking” and the currents here can be quite strong and as a result quite dangerous if you are not an experienced diver.

The geographical sub structure on which the Island is based is a massive limestone base and tied into this is also one of the other major reasons why people flock to this area of the world for diving and that is the massive underwater cave network that exists here.

The underwater cave network that is located by and large within the Lucayan National Park is the second largest of its type in the world.

The caves are still being explored, and there are numerous special dive programs that can take you into them (provided you are cave certified).

Every interesting locality has their own precise celebrations and indigenous events which visitor flock to witness and the Bahamas are no exception. The Bahamas at first appears to be a passive and isolated location far away from the bustling behavior of the everyday life in the big city. However upon closer assessment the islands are in reality swarming with a profusion of activities and events for visitors of all ages.

It doesn’t matter if you are in search of family fun or various nightlife events, you can find them here in the Bahamas. Each of the islands have their own activities to occupy any idol hours for those who seek them. Water related sports and events are readily available here and you can be assured that you will find some of the finest fishing in the world on any of the Bahamas Islands, diving that is unmatched by any other location, and boating fit for the fussiest of captains.

Of all the events found on these Caribbean paradises, you can find the islands most talked about cultural festival known as “Junkanoo”. Even the Junkanoo has evolved into an even larger even called the Junkanoo Summer Festival. This exciting event usually runs from June to August and is celebrated concurrently on Nassau/Paradise Island, The Exumas, The Abacos as well as the Grand Bahama Island.

On the Nassau/Paradise Island you will discover all the familiar components that are usually found in the “Junkanoo in June”. In addition they have added some additional features and surprises to make the celebration even more exciting and fun. The heritage and cultural explosion that is held every Saturday evening features many local musical talents and includes several theatrical performances, some local cultural demonstrations, tasty native dishes complete with tropical drinks and the Kid’s Camp which is centered around the younger generation.

Additional local events include Tuesday performances of the Bahamian Sketch Comedy groups, a Royal Poinciana Friday Tea Party held at the historical British Colonial Hilton and the National Youth Choir’s Saturday evening Concert.

Junkanoo represents Bahamas greatest cultural event scheduled for the year. Although known worldwide and familiar to many this event is strictly about the Bahamas and covers various aspects of this distinct cultural exponent.

Each of the major Junkanoo groups derives their funds from corporate sponsors. Of particular interest is the huge cost associated with this event which is usually upwards of $40,000 to $100,000. Many local corporations provide both financial and other support for the activities. These companies range from Aquapure Water Limited, Sun International, Shell Bahamas Limited and Colombian Emeralds International.

Naturally, one of the primary reasons the Bahamas have attracted
visitors from all over the world is the abundance of beautiful
beaches. Grand Bahama Island certainly has its share of these
remarkable beaches, and as a beach vacation destination, this
island rates as one of the best.

Xanadu Beach is a popular tourist destination located in
Freeport. There are a variety of activities available, including
water sports such as parasailing and beach sports such as
volleyball. Because of the pleasant atmosphere, the beach also
attracts a local crowd, in addition to tourists. This beach is
not uncomfortably crowded, and although it attracts enough
people to have an active social scene, it is large enough that
there is room to enjoy a bit of solitude.

Taino Beach is the perfect place for those seeking the classic
white sands beach experience, with all the traditional pastimes.
It also has a small playground that is sure to please families
with small children. Some of the best restaurants in the area
are found in this area. Lucayan Beach is where tourist with an
interest in active water sports go. Conveniently located across
from the Port Lucaya hotels, it has a long and inviting sandy
shoreline.

Gold Rock Beach is located in the Lucayan National Park and is
simply gorgeous. It is about 25 miles from Freeport and is,
despite its beautiful white sands on the edge of spectacularly
blue waters, quiet and peaceful. Outdoor cooking facilities and
picnic tables are available, making an all day visit an
enjoyable event.

Mather Town Beach is an excellent place for those who enjoy
meeting locals. The beach restaurant and bar Club Carib is
located here, and is definitely worth a visit for its fine
variety of reasonably priced, quality food. William’s Town Beach
is another active beach, with water sports, including jet skis
and snorkeling on the eastern side. Horseback riding along the
beach is permitted here, and with the beautiful view, it is the
perfect spot for a leisurely stroll, whether by foot or on
horseback.
